Skills Hub

Privacy policy

Effective 31 August 2026. Applies to the Skills Hub app and website used to prepare and run WorldSkills competition skills.

Who uses Skills Hub

Skills Hub is a working tool for the people who organise a WorldSkills competition: Skill Competition Managers, Skill Advisors, skill team members and the Competitions team. Accounts are created by invitation only — there is no public sign-up — and everything in the app exists to get competition skills ready and run them at the event.

What we hold about you

  • Your account: your name, email address, role, and the skill or skills you are responsible for.
  • Your work in the app: deliverable updates and the evidence files you upload, messages and emails sent through the app, meeting records, readiness answers, and checklist activity. A record of who changed what, and when, is kept so the preparation of a competition can be accounted for.
  • Your device: if you allow notifications in the mobile app, a push token that identifies that installation of the app (not you personally) so notifications can be delivered. It is released when you sign out.
  • Questions you ask: what you type into Ask is processed by our own document-search service to find the answer in competition documents.

Step data (Health Connect and HealthKit)

If you choose to join a steps challenge in the mobile app, Skills Hub asks for permission to read step counts, and nothing else — not distance, calories, heart rate, sleep or any other health data — from Health Connect on Android or HealthKit on iOS.

  • Only your daily step totals for the days of the challenge are sent to Skills Hub, and only while you are taking part in a challenge you joined yourself.
  • They are used for one purpose: showing your progress and standing in that challenge to you and to the other participants in it.
  • Step data is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with anyone else. It is not used to make any decision about you.
  • You can stop at any time by leaving the challenge or by revoking the permission in Health Connect or your device settings — the app then reads nothing further. You can also ask us to delete the step totals already recorded (see “Deleting your data” below).

App lock and biometrics

The optional app lock uses your device’s own fingerprint or face unlock. That check happens entirely on your device — Skills Hub never receives or stores your biometric data.

How your information is used

To run the competition preparation this app exists for: showing each person the skills and tasks that are theirs, sending the reminders and notifications you would expect from a work tool, and keeping the app secure. Skills Hub shows no advertising, uses no third-party analytics or tracking, and never sells your information.

Who can see it

Other authorised users see what their role entitles them to — for example, a Skill Advisor sees the skills they advise, and the Competitions team sees progress across the field. Steps challenge standings are visible to the other participants in that challenge.

The service providers that host the app process data on our behalf: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Cloudflare (file storage), Resend (email delivery) and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging / Apple Push Notification service (notification delivery). They act under our instructions and have no right to use your data for their own purposes. We disclose information beyond this only if the law requires it.

Storage and security

Data is encrypted in transit, stored in access-controlled systems, and reachable only by signed-in, authorised users. Our servers may be located outside your own country, including in the United States and Europe.

Deleting your data

Competition records are kept for the competition cycle they belong to, because they document how the event was prepared. Your personal account is yours: email notifications@skill-tracker.worldskills2026.com from your registered address to have your account deleted, or to have your steps challenge data removed on its own. We will confirm what will be deleted — your account, sign-in details, device tokens and step data — and what remains as part of the competition record, then act on it within 30 days.

On your device

Skills Hub uses a sign-in cookie to keep your session, and stores a small amount of data on the device itself: work you saved while offline (until it is sent), and the time the app was last unlocked (for the app lock). No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are used.

Children

Skills Hub is a professional tool for competition officials and is not directed at children.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and signed-in users are told in the app. Questions about this policy, or about your data: notifications@skill-tracker.worldskills2026.com.
